Abt Spedition is a medium-sized company with headquarters in Schwäbisch Gmünd and further locations in Alfdorf, Gügling, Gschwend and Schorndorf, which operates throughout Europe under the Abt Spedition and Abt Service brands. With over 370 employees, 70,000 square meters of warehouse space and a fleet of 100 of our own vehicles as well as 20 permanent partner companies, we offer comprehensive logistics services.
Our high-performance cooperation with CTL and ELVIS as well as personal customer care guarantee the highest quality of service. We have been ISO-certified since 1999 and focus on quality, safety and environmental awareness in order to make your logistics processes efficient and reliable.
History of the company
From the initial transportation of dairy products, the company has developed into a modern logistics partner with Europe-wide reach.

Founding of the Abt and Lakner companies
Josef Lakner and Severin Abt founded a forwarding company in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
First diesel truck
was purchased by Severin Abt in 1934.

1945
First journey of an Abt truck
with a wooden body and wooden benches for transporting personnel. The first local bus was purchased a year later.
Inclusion of city traffic
Schwäbisch Gemünd by the bus service Abt.

Takeover by Arthur Abt
After the death of his father, Severin Abt, Arthur Abt took over the existing transport and logistics business.
Takeover of the Lakner forwarding company
by the Abt family.

New Gügling industrial estate and entry Jochen Abt
Arthur Abt and his son Jochen Abt have jointly managed the two forwarding companies since 2002.
Opening of the new ZF logistics center in Alfdorf
with over 24,000 square meters of storage space, 14,000 parking spaces and room for 700 steel coils.

Focus on green logistics
We invest in sustainable technologies to make the logistics of tomorrow CO₂-neutral. We have been certified in the area of green logistics since 2014 and consistently focus on environmentally friendly solutions. Since June 2019, we have been using LNG trucks fueled with methane (natural gas/biogas) on the Nuremberg-Friedrichshafen route in cooperation with ZF AG and Iveco.
Since August 2024, we have been testing purely electric, quiet electric trucks with Daimler Truck AG on the Schwäbisch Gmünd-Wörth round trip in order to achieve emission-free transport by 2050.
